Overview

The Kauaeranga Forest Education Camp is a perfect location to set up base and explore the many trails and historical sites in this beautiful Valley.  Come explore for yourself – you will not be disappointed!

Whether you are a school group, club or society, a group of friends and family wishing to gather or hold a special occasion, the Kauaeranga Education Camp is the place for you! While on conservation land, the lodge is owned by a non-profit society and was built in 1979.

Since then a committee of dedicated folk have been running and maintaining the lodge for the purpose of providing a place for people to experience nature, promote outdoor pursuits and enjoy the diverse Kauaeranga Valley. The old name of the Valley was Waiwhakaurunga, which may be understood as ‘the upper reaches with many bathing pools’, which is an excellent description of this amazing river.
