VIEW WEBSITE ‹ BACK TO LISTINGSThis picturesque campsite is one of nine Department of Conservation campsites located in the Kauaeranga Valley and allows you to camp across the road from the river and explore one of the many Kauaeranga Valley short walks. Walks range from easy, 20 minutes walks on well-formed tracks to the overnight Kauaeranga Kauri Trail.
The Kahikatea Walk to a replica model dam is also only a 10minute walk from this campsite.
Follow the Kauaeranga Valley Road for 14km from Thames. The Kahikatea campsite is on the left hand side of the road, opposite Shag Stream Campground and 100m before the visitor centre.

This campsite is only for certified self-contained motorhomes with a current Electrical Warrant of Fitness who want power. No other forms of camping are permitted. As this campsite is for certified self-contained motorhomes, facilities are limited. Tents and caravans are not permitted, but are welcome at other campsites in the Kauaeranga Valley.
