Booms Flat Campsite is a popular and spacious campsite run by the Department of Conservation in the Kauaeranga Valley.
To find this secluded camping ground you simply need to follow Kauaeranga Valley Road from Thames for 14km to the Kauaeranga Visitor Centre. It is the third camping ground past the visitor centre - which is 6km north of the visitor centre.
Bookings are not required - first come, first served. Please pay your camp fees at the Kauaeranga Visitor Centre.
Dogs are permitted at Booms Flat and Hotoritori campgrounds but are strictly prohibited from all other campgrounds in the valley, and must be kept on a leash at all times. Dogs on a leash are permitted on most walking tracks but not the Kauaeranga Kauri Trail, the Pinnacles track or at the Pinnacles Hut. No other domestic animals are allowed except for horses on the horse riding trail.
