Sunkist Guesthouse (formerly known as the "Lady Bowen Hotel" from 1860s - 1950) has been the best base to explore Thames, the Thames Goldfields, Kauaeranga Valley and the Coromandel Peninsula for nearly 150 years.  

Today they continue to offer quality heritage accommodation in a quiet location with modern comforts to provide travellers a well-earned rest.  This is the perfect base to explore the many walking and cycling trails and tracks on the doorstep of Thames.


Relax in your own high ceiling private room and enjoy the many guest areas including a large garden and BBQ area. Tea, coffee and continental breakfast is included. Experience the many local cafes and restaurants in short walking distance or the self-catering guest kitchen is available for your use. 

Bike your way around Thames, tackle the Scarface or Hotoritori Mountain bike tracks, take a multi day tour of the Peninsula or spend a day on the Hauraki Rail Trail. Sunkist Guesthouse can help with all your plans, provide you the bikes, then shuttle you and your bikes around the Coromandel including Waikino, Waihi and Te Aroha. 

Hike the famous Pinnacles -  Coromandel's best hike with stunning scenery, forest, waterfalls and mountain top views with 1 or 2 day hikes. There are always more hikes and walks for those wanting to be more or less adventurous, maybe try Crosbies hut.
