Tapu is the ideal spot to unwind and get away from it all – perfect for a weekend of fishing or time with the family. There is safe swimming either in the sea or in the swimming holes in the creek nearby. A children’s playground is situated next door at the school.

Tapu Camp is classic kiwi camping at its best with options available for powered and non-powered sites for both tents or caravans/motorhomes. Cabins are also available.

Tapu Camp is a beachfront camping ground, located along the picturesque, winding coast road just 20 minutes north of Thames. It is only a short distance to the great all-weather, all-tide Waikawau boat ramp, and from there, only 5 minutes to snapper fishing at the mussel farms.
